[★] Angmar was a region and kingdom founded in TA 1300 in the far north of the Misty Mountains by the Lord of the Ringwraiths,
who became known as "the Witch-king of Angmar".
[x] Carn Dûm was the capital and chief fortress
of the Witch-king's realm.
[x] Mount Gram was located somewhere in the Ettenmoors, west of the Misty Mountains. The mountain was long inhabited by a group of Orcs.
In TA 2747, they attacked the Shire and caused “the Battle of the Green Fields”. The invaders were defeated by hobbits led by Bandobras Took, who personally slew their leader Golfimbul.
[x] Mount Gundabad was an Orc stronghold situated at the northern end of the Misty Mountains, located to the east of Angmar. The Mountain was revered by the Dwarves but remained mostly under Orc control.
[x] Dol Guldur, also known as “the Hill of Dark Sorcery”, was Sauron's stronghold and base of operations while secretly regaining his power. It also served as an Orc stronghold. Located in the south of Mirkwood, it was occupied for most of two thousand years in the Third Age. It was originally known as Amon Lanc, the capital of Oropher's Silvan Elves, but was claimed by Sauron around TA 1050.
[x] The Elvenking's Halls were a cave system in northern Mirkwood, in which King Thranduil and many of the Elves of Mirkwood lived during most of the Third Age and into the Fourth Age. During the War of the Ring Thranduil's realm was invaded but on 15 March TA 3019 he was victorious over the forces of Dol Guldur in "the Battle Under the Trees".

[★] The Northern Kingdom of Arnor, sister to the Southern Realm of Gondor, was a kingdom of Men located in the land of Eriador, founded by descendants of Elendil after the fall of Numenor. After eight hundred years of peace, High King Eärendur died in TA 861 and his three sons divided the realm into the three kingdoms of Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur. Thereafter the Dúnedain of the North engaged in foolish, petty wars, sapping their strength while enemies gathered in the shadows...
[x] Rhudaur was the smallest of the kingdoms that originated from the break-up of Arnor. It became a vassal of Angmar in TA 1349.
[x] Cardolan, one of the three realms of the kingdom of Arnor, was invaded when a great host descended from Angmar in TA 1409.
